St. Luke’s of Minnesota Selects eClinicalWorks Comprehensive EHR Solution
Minnesota Health System to Establish Electronic Health Records System for Approximately 200 Physicians, Improving Communication and Patient Care
Westborough, Mass.—May 24, 2010—eClinicalWorks®, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Duluth, Minn.-based St. Luke’s, a health care system with hospitals and clinics, has chosen eClinicalWorks comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) solution for its approximately 200 employed physicians and two affiliated practices. This solution includes the eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution, eClinicalWorks’ Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX), eClinicalWorks Patient Portal, Enterprise Business Optimizer (eBO), eClinicalMobile and eClinicalMessenger – all designed to extend the use of EHRs beyond the practice’s walls to improve communication with access to real-time information.
“St. Luke’s required a new system that had the workflow to support quality patient care,” said Clark Averill, St. Luke’s Director of Information Technology. “Our selection committee chose eClinicalWorks to create an electronic health records environment that will automate the workflow and share real-time information between practices and the acute care team. This will lead to a more efficient environment that is a higher quality for patients.”
Providers will implement eClinicalWorks comprehensive EHR solution using a Software as a Service (SaaS) model so members are able to access the solution via the Internet. The unified EMR/PM system will also interface with St. Luke’s in-patient system by Meditech, making vital patient data readily available through the system. This creates a more efficient practice, reduces human errors and improves patient care.
“St. Luke’s was looking for a comprehensive system that would automate practices beyond practice walls,” said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. “By selecting eClinicalWorks, St. Luke’s will be offering its providers a standards-based electronic health records solution that will aid in treatment outcomes and provide operational efficiencies. This initiative will allow the hospital’s providers to become even more connected with their patients and each other.”
eClinicalMobile will permit St. Luke’s physicians to access the system anywhere through their smart phone. Providers will also have access to eBO for customized reports, while eEHX will create a community record to give physicians access to patients’ health information and allow them to exchange data more effectively. Combined, these technologies will extend the use of electronic health records beyond the practice walls to offer real-time access and updating of patient information anytime, anywhere and enhance communication between providers and patients.
