Family Practice Successfully Utilizes eClinicalWorks Solution

South Point Family Practice Utilizes eClinicalWorks Solution to Transform Operations¡XDigitizes Patient Records and Streamlines Day-to-Day Tasks to Enhance Patient Care

Westboro, MA¡XFebruary 8, 2005¡X eClinicalWorks, the leading provider of unified end-to-end ambulatory EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and PM (Practice Management) systems for multi-location, multi-specialty medical practices, announced today that South Point Family Practice is successfully utilizing its solution to streamline operations. Since deploying the award-winning solution, South Point Family Practice has streamlined its entire operation, from front-office to back-office, giving practitioners instant access to a wealth of vital patient information and the ability to deliver superior care, all while generating significant time savings.

Based in North Carolina, South Point Family Practice consists of a group of seven physicians and five physician assistants who work out of two separate offices and offer patients the full spectrum of primary care, including hospital care, with same-day appointments as well as 24-hour emergency coverage. The practice serves approximately 40,000 patients and in recent years experienced increasing difficulty in managing the burgeoning paper work, especially phone messages and medication and refill requests within each respective office and between the two offices.

¡§As a growing family practice, we began to find it increasingly difficult to effectively manage the massive amount of patient information and requests that come with having a large patient-base. HIPPA mandates presented another huge concern,¡¨ said Dr David Rinehart. ¡§The eClinicalWorks technologies are proven and affordable solutions, which since deployment have completely transformed our practice messaging and paperwork, eliminating great inefficiencies in favor of a streamlined organization with critical patient information just clicks away from any workstation. With this critical technology in place, we are able to treat all of our patients with the level of care they demand.¡¨

Since going live, South Point¡¦s operations have been transformed, a process that continues to progress as more information is inputted into the system. First off, stacks of charts have been eliminated and as a result, employees no longer search throughout the office for patient information. Instead, all necessary employees enjoy instant access to all patient information, which is more accurate, in-depth and available then ever before. Additionally, chart creation time has been reduced to a couple of minutes; saving time and money, while the management of all phone calls and messages has greatly improved. Furthermore, transcription staff time saving has been reduced by 80-90%, a savings of nearly $100,000 a year for the practice, while the prescription writing process is vastly improved, as a refill that previously needed to be written out by hand now can be executed with only a few clicks of the mouse. With the system in place, doctors and physician assistants even have the ability to access all patient data from home, over a secure connection, making after hours calls easier and clinical decisions far more accurate.

¡§I believe eClinicalWorks provides the very best value available of the electronic records and patient management systems I have seen,¡¨ states Rinehart. ¡§We have been very pleased with our choice.¡¨

¡§Family practices like larger medical entities are faced with the same challenges when it comes to improving operations and delivering their patients the best possible care,¡¨ said Girish Kumar, Vice President of Sales at eClinicalWorks. ¡§By making the eClinicalWorks solution available to groups of all sizes, South Point Family Practice becomes the latest in a long line of family medical organizations dedicated to modernizing their operations in order to operate with the highest degree of efficiency.¡¨
