CENTRAL GEORGIA HEALTH network SELECTS eCLINICALWORKS UNIFIED EMR/PM AND ELECTRONIC HEALTH EXCHANGE
Community Health Record to Connect 428 Providers in
Central Georgia, Improving the Quality of Care
ORLANDO, Fla., HIMSS Conference, BOOTH #3485—February 25,
2008—
eClinicalWorksTM,
a market leader in
ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Central Georgia Health
Network (CGHN) has selected the company’s unified electronic
medical record (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution to streamline
practice operations for 428 providers across Central Georgia. Also,
eClinicalWorks
Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX) will create a community health record
to engage CGHN physicians and their patients in more effective medical
management.
"We have been at the forefront of improving
the quality of patient care in Central Georgia for years and have
achieved quantifiable results in that area," said Wynn Kallay M.D.,
chairman of Central Georgia Health Network (CGHN). "Implementing eEHX is
the single most important initiative in the Middle Georgia region to
accurately measure and improve quality. This provides us the greatest
opportunity to prevent medical errors and the potential for medical cost
reduction is astronomical." Doug Brewer M.D., chairman of CGHN’s
Technology Committee adds, "eClinicalWorks has been selected for the
ease-of-use and proven technology of its unified solution. The
Technology Committee carefully evaluated several systems and found that
eClinicalWorks best meets CGHN’s needs."
Since 1996, CGHN has served as a network of multi-specialty providers in
Central Georgia, including private practices, a hospital and the
academic faculty at Mercer University. Using eClinicalWorks, CGHN
providers will benefit from improved communication and patient
information during both hospital stays and visits to private physician
practices. eEHX will create a community record that will enable
physicians to have access to patients’ vital health information and
allow physicians to exchange data more effectively. Initially, the more
than 152 practices in the CGHN network will participate, with a plan to
proliferate participation to the regional CGHN providers, including
doctors in rural areas.
"Central Georgia Health Network is leading a clinical integration
project that brings together multiple specialty, private physician
groups and hospital in the interest of helping providers implement
systems that increase the quality of patient care," said Girish Kumar
Navani, president of eClinicalWorks. "Using eClinicalWorks EMR/PM, with
an interface to the hospital’s Cerner in-patient system, and in
conjunction with our Electronic Health eXchange will help providers
easily improve operations and communication throughout the extended
practices. The community-wide record that is created through this
agreement will allow CGHN physicians to have the most up-to-date and
accurate patient information, including electronic referrals, to provide
superior care."
