MOUNT AUBURN CAMBRIDGE IPA SELECTS eCLINICALWORKS UNIFIED EMR/PM SOLUTION

More than 230 Providers Select eClinicalWorks; 18 Sites Live with Electronic Medical Records

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.—December 10, 2007— eClinicalWorksTM, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Massachusetts-based Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association, Inc. (MACIPA) has selected eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) solution. MACIPA’s goals are to improve the quality of care provided to its members’ patients, and enhance practice operations and communication among providers. More than 230 physicians will ultimately participate and 18 sites with 70 providers are currently live as part of this project.

“MACIPA’s hallmark is its emphasis on innovation, leading our members to use and develop systems that support physicians who are in private practice, as well as those physicians who are employed,” said Dr. Barbara Spivak, president of Mount Auburn Cambridge Independent Practice Association, Inc. “Implementing the eClinicalWorks clinical integration solution is another innovation for our physicians and community. We selected eClinicalWorks for its superior product and intuitive, easy to use format. We are focused on ensuring that eClinicalWorks works well with our current systems, which includes interfacing with Meditech and IDX. By collaborating closely with eClinicalWorks, we are together implementing and creating a system that is helpful to our physicians and their staff. We look forward to establishing a world-class physician medical record system that improves the quality of care provided to our patients with eClinicalWorks.”

MACIPA is currently implementing eClinicalWorks’ unified EMR/PM system. eClinicalWorks is also working with MACIPA on interfaces with Meditech to streamline sending and receiving lab orders and results. As the project advances, eClinicalWorks’ Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX) will enhance communication between primary care and specialist physicians through the Physician Portal, enabling providers to securely share information on facets of patient care.

“eClinicalWorks is committed to providing comprehensive functionality for providers to manage all aspects of patient care, not only what happens during an office visit,” said Girish Kumar Navani, president of eClinicalWorks. “As part of that commitment, we continuously add solutions, such as eEHX, to help improve communication throughout the extended practice, and allow our customers to better serve their patients.”

MACIPA is an organization developed by its physicians in greater-Boston to enable them to deliver high quality patient care in a demanding managed care environment. The MACIPA membership is made up of over 500 physicians on staff at Mount Auburn Hospital and Cambridge Health Alliance (Cambridge Hospital and Somerville Hospital). The physicians work in diverse settings, small private offices, large private offices, and in practices owned by Mount Auburn Hospital or Cambridge Health Alliance. MACIPA members practice in Cambridge, Belmont, Arlington, Lexington, Somerville, Waltham and Watertown.
