Oregon State University Student Health Services Selects eClinicalWorks EMR, PM, and Patient Portal

Unified Solution Enables 19,000 Students to Access Medical Information, Schedule Appointments and View Lab Results Via the Internet

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.—Oct. 31, 2005—eClinicalWorks, the leading provider of integrated end-to-end electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management systems for multi-location, multi-specialty medical practices, today announced Oregon State University (OSU) has selected the eClinicalWorks unified software solution for Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Practice Management (PM) and Web-based Patient Portal for the University's Student Health Services (SHS). OSU provides comprehensive outpatient health services for more than 19,000 students at two separate clinical sites. The eClinicalWorks platform will provide the university with a cost-effective, customized system for maintaining and accessing student medical information, while increasing the ease of communication between students and staff at SHS.

"Oregon State University is very excited to be the first university Student Health Services to deploy the eClinicalWorks software," notes Dr. James Koski, OSU, Student Health Services. "OSU spent three years vigilantly researching different EMR systems and selected eClinicalWorks because it is an affordable, unified end-to-end solution that truly meets our individual needs and the requirements necessary to service a large student population with extended connectivity for our students."

eClinicalWorks' award-winning EMR solution allows healthcare providers to manage the patient flow, allow immediate access to patient records in-house or remotely, electronically communicate with the referring physicians and securely send consult notes and clinical data. Users can immediately access and review complete patient histories, past visits, current medications, allergies, labs and charts. Integrated with EMR is eClinicalWorks Practice Management, designed to instantly streamline the medical billing process.

With eClinicalWorks OSU will experience improved practice efficiency and team productivity, enhanced quality of patient care, increased patient satisfaction, minimized risk of medical errors and maximized practice profitability. Staff members at OSU are particularly excited about the new eClinicalWorks Patient Portal. This Web-based connection enables students/patients to communicate with doctors easily, safely and securely over the Internet. Each OSU student will be issued a secure password which will allow the student to complete required health history and immunization forms online, schedule appointments, review lab results and billing statements, and receive health maintenance reminders from their physician.

"OSU is clearly dedicated to providing the best healthcare for its students, and their adoption of technologies to improve communication is a crucial component," said Girish Kumar, founder and vice president of sales/marketing, eClinicalWorks. "We at eClinicalWorks are proud to support OSU's initiative, and look forward to adding value to OSU's Student Health Services by facilitating remote and immediate access to patient information, allowing physicians to spend more time on delivering quality care and less time managing paperwork."

Improving Care While Reducing Costs: eClinicalWorks at OSU

OSU is benefiting from the complete integrated suite of eClinicalWorks EMR, PM and Patient Portal. eClinicalWorks EMR instantly streamlines patient scheduling and saves practices time and money. Offices are connected via interoffice messaging. Patient arrival alerts are sent to nurse and physician desktops. The system manages patient flow and provides flexible and powerful data entry tools to allow a physician, nurse or other member of the practice to enter patient information using predefined phrases. For transcription, the system learns the users' vocabulary and develops a high quality clinical content data bank.

eClinicalWorks PM eliminates the roadblocks inherent in healthcare billing processes. PM software acts like a billing assistant, helping to reduce accounts receivables and expedite collection revenue, resulting in maximized profitability. eClinicalWorks PM includes online payor communication, claims submission and tracking, payment posting, Medicare submission integration, collection and statement letter generation and more.
